我只了解我们这边的情况了, livingston不错, 开车20分钟到Harrison,
然后坐path进城, 老中聚居区, 就是学区比较好, 房子比较贵.
周边的west orange, east hanover也都挺好的.

Here is my cents
If you want to settle down and buy a house for a quite long time, Bergen
County, Livingston, and ShortHill are better choices if your kid needs to
attend a decent school. But your budget should target at a decent level as
well. Security is not an issue. The commute is about 1hr 30 min usually,
sometimes shorter, depending on downtown or mid-town of NYC you are heading
to
Harrison is a nice one in terms of day care and cheap renting. if your baby
is too little,say before Kindergarden, Harrison offers free day care. The
house rent for a 2-bed or 3-bed room unit is around 1100-1500 bucks. The
commute is not bad too. To downtown WalL Street, about 25 mins, while to
mid-town, it's about 45 min (plus 10 min walking, usually about 1 hr from
your home to workplace at Mid-town. If you are working around 50th st.at nyc
, you probably want to take subway also, which means additional mins...).
You can walk to PATH station and saves your paking fee. There are lot of
Chinese living at Harrison. Security is not a big concern, too.
If you want to live in a young, Hippy, and Professional environment and does
not care about $$, Hoboken should be definitely taken into your
consideration. But as far as I know, the school system over there does not
sound well. BTW, Hoboken is a hot spot for Young Whites.
Jersey city is excellent in terms of commute, but security and school system
are questioned by many people.

北部LIVINGSTON 比较好, 中部EDISON也好,但是这两个地方都比较贵了. 中部
PISCATAWAY相对便宜一些. 中部HOLMDEL也可以. 南部PRINCETON好是好,就是太南了, 每天火车COMMUTE去NYC
实在是很累.
中部的话: 学区好的话, EAST BRUNSWICK是很好的学区. 如果想着将来房子好卖的话,
EDISON快,因为很多老印喜欢EDISON.
